Our Content Management System (CMS)

A content management system (CMS) allows you to update your website yourself so you don't need to contact your developer for minor changes.

Our CMS is almost as good for what it doesn't allow you to do as well as what it does allow you to do. An example is we fix just a few font types and colours rather than having a huge selection. This best practice method means users will see a more consistent site that is easy to read. It also makes it easier for different people to update a client site with minimal knowledge of the specific requirements.

Our CMS is very easy to use and understand but we take time to make sure that if you add or remove pages or whole sections, the site will still work. This doesn't just happen, it's a result of good design and good planning. Other providers could offer a CMS that causes site layout issues if you add further pages.

Our CMS has been developed since 2002 and we continue to make improvements. Unlike some other CMS providers, we charge a monthly fee for a subscription to our CMS. If you find you don't need it, we can turn off the subscription and you can call us to make changes for you instead. We find this method works better than other providers, some of whom offer a free CMS and others who have a larger up front payment.

We tend to find that other CMS systems will make it easy for you to break your site as they allow you to do too much. If that happens you may need to go back to your developer to put things right. When we create sites, we tell you what things you will be able to change and we find this works well. In fact many of our clients don't come back to us until they want a new site design.
